Explanation of Results

Normal- A “Normal” result means that this dog does not carry or have the DNA trait that causes the associated genetic disease.
Carrier- A “Carrier” result indicates that this dog has one copy of the mutation and carries the DNA trait that has been reported to cause the genetic disease however, two copies of the mutation are required to cause the associated genetic disease. The dog DOES NOT have the associated genetic disease, and can not get the genetic disease they only carry the DNA trait associated with the genetic disease.
At Risk/Affected- An “At Risk” result indicates that this dog has two copies of the mutation and carries the DNA trait that has been reported to cause the associated genetic disease. Depending on the mode of the genetic mutation this dog may or may not have the associated genetic disease at the time of testing. This dog is “At Risk” to develop the associated genetic disease in its lifetime.
